Etna liqueurs – Etna thigh pear liqueur

7.5021.00

Etna liqueurs are produced only with fresh fruit harvested in the black lands of Etna and tell the agricultural stories of brave brokers, farmers and traders who have contributed to building the charm and success of the Etna area.

The Pera Coscia dell’Etna harvested in the Melia district in the month of September, slightly later than its maturation, is distinguished by the flavor of its delicate and sweet pulp, kept in this liqueur thanks to the infusion and maceration in alcohol.

INTRO:

Sicily is one of the regions with the greatest wine production in Italy, together with Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Puglia. The winemaking traditions of Sicily are very ancient and date back to the times of the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Greeks and the Arabs. Sicily boasts numerous native vines such as frappato, nero d’Avola, inzolia, catarratto, nerello mascalese and nerello hood, malvasia delle Lipari and moscato d’Alessandria (zibibbo, from the Arabic zibib which means precisely “a pass”) .

Based on the type of grape we can understand the cultivation area of the various vines mentioned above:

  • Moscato wines, Moscato di Siracusa and Moscato di Noto are found in the Syracuse area
  • The wines based on Nero d’Avola, frappato and ceraselo di Vittoria DOCG are produced in the province of Ragusa
  • The Grillo, Grecanico, Catarratto and Inzolia vines are the protagonists of the Alcamo DOC
  • The Malvasia delle Lipari very famous of the Aeolian Islands in the Messina area
  • On the slopes of Etna, considered an “island within an island” due to the characteristic of the lava soil and the microclimate that characterizes this area, we find Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, for red, rosé and sparkling wines and Catarratto and Carricante for white wines. The famous Etna DOC wines are produced from these vines.
  • In the province of Caltanissetta there is one of the most recent DOCs in Sicily, the Riesi
  • Marsala is a historic DOC that takes its name from the municipality of the same name in the province of Trapani.
  • Also in the province of Trapani is the island of Pantelleria, where the Passito di Pantelleria is produced
